Global poverty is one of the most pressing issues in our world today, and it demands our attention. With 1 billion people living on less then a dollar a day and 8 million dying annually due to poverty, we cannot afford to ignore this problem.
Nourish International is a student response to the issue of global poverty. In our effort to eradicate global poverty, we make progress in two ways. First is through our projects, where we empower communities with long-term solutions. Second is through its students, whom we train for an immediate impact and a lifetime of social change.
During the school year, Nourish Chapters run small businesses called "ventures." One example is Hunger Lunch, a venture where students sell rice, beans and cornbread on campus for $3 a plate. The money earned through ventures like Hunger Lunch is invested in sustainable development projects abroad.
Over the summer, Nourish students travel to assist its community partners in the implementation of these projects. The communities students work in, though lacking physical resources, have an abundance of entrepreneurial energy. This summer, we completed projects in Peru, Honduras, Mexico, Brazil and Uganda, helping to empower thousands of people. In Peru, for example, students joined Engineers Without Borders and a local community organization to build a clean-water system for 300 families.
Nourish International is adding new chapters, students and projects every year. To learn more about Nourish International, visit us online www.nourishinternational.org.

Big thanks to everyone who submitted pictures. It's been great looking through all of your pictures and seeing what an incredible time you all had over the summer.

The Nourish National Office runs on three things: Coffee, Cottage Living, and interns. This fall, we've got an incredibly talented group of thirteen that's taking leadership roles on a number of really important projects, from our project-partner database to our 2008 fundraising goals to planning Chapter Founders 2009.
Check out their profiles after the jump.
The Nourish National Office leaked a video to its Chapter Leaders last week that has created substantial buzz and talk of a possible Oscar nomination. The video, which features Logan Couce in the leading role tells the story of fictional Faber College and it's quest to relocate its Hunger Lunch due to weather.
Playing himself, Couce acts as Chapter Coordinator to relay critical information between Wanda, Faber's Chapter Leader (played by Meredith Stricker), and the National Office Team. Strong performances were also turned in by Joel Thomas, Bryon Zandt and James Dillard (all playing themselves) as they parodied a day in the life of the Nourish National Office.
